From Hell

Written by Alan Moore
Illustrated by Eddie Campbell

From Hell is a detailed and graphic account of the events leading up to and following Jack the Ripper’s slaughterous spree in Whitechapel towards the close of the 19th century.

In this historically researched graphic novel Moore hypothesizes about the identity and motives of the killer including the conspiracy theories involving the upper echelons of the British Establishment; and that the Ripper’s celebrity status in the media at the time was a precursor for the celebrity culture and social panic through the media of today.

The prose of Moore combined with Campell’s black and white artwork provides graphicly detailed and often painful scenes of horror. Although From Hell is a graphic novel by genre, the creators have pushed the boundaries of visual storytelling to new heights. “FROM HELL combines meticulous research with educated speculation, resulting in a masterpiece of historical fiction both compelling and terrifying.” (amazon.com)
