Ghost World

Written and illustrated by Daniel Clowes

Ghost World accounts the daily life of two best friends, Enid Coleslaw and RebbecaDoppelmeyer, after they graduate from high school during the early 1990s. As they roam around, the two girls mock and scorn their small unnamed American town and the people living in it. Questioning their sexuality, their attractiveness to boys and what their future holds a love triangle forms with a mutual male friend named Josh.
As time passes, Enid and Rebecca’s stoic sisterhood begins to wane and a rift develops in their close friendship when Enid makes a decision to leave the town and go to college. Some reviewers have compared Ghost World to Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye.
